A quiet north Phoenix neighborhood turned into a crime scene before sunrise Saturday after a man was shot and left in critical condition, while the person who pulled the trigger disappeared before officers arrived.
Scene and response
Phoenix police say they were called just before 5:30 a.m. for reports of gunfire near Cave Creek Road and Greenway Road. When officers got to the area, they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Crews from the Phoenix Fire Department rushed the victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officers immediately began sweeping nearby streets for a suspect but did not locate anyone, and the case remains very much active, according to ABC15 Arizona.
Investigation and how to help
Detectives have been canvassing the neighborhood and collecting evidence, working to piece together who opened fire and why. Investigators are asking anyone who lives or drives in the area to check home surveillance or dash-cam footage from around the time of the shooting and share anything that might help.
