What started as an argument outside a Red Oak Street home in Binghampton turned violent Sunday evening, leaving an uninvolved man shot in the leg, according to Memphis police. Officers with the Memphis Police Department responded around 7 p.m. and opened an investigation, while the injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital by his sister.
What police say
According to Action News 5, officers were called to the scene after reports of people arguing outside a home, followed by gunfire. When officers arrived, they spoke with a witness and later learned that a male bystander had been hit in the leg. The victim’s sister was on scene but told police she could not identify the shooter.
Where the victim was taken
Per Yahoo News, officers were also contacted at Baptist East about a shooting victim who arrived there around 7:08 p.m. Authorities are working to determine whether that call is connected to the Red Oak Street incident, the outlet reports.
Suspect description and search
Investigators say they have a description from witnesses and are looking for a heavyset woman, about 26 or 27 years old and roughly 5-foot-5, according to Action News 5. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is still underway.
