Acclaimed pastry chef Casey Renee is moving Confections out of its appointment-only Wilkinsburg kitchen and into a full-fledged cafe, with the new storefront set to open next Saturday, April 11. It will be Renee’s first regular retail location after operating Confections as a custom-order and pickup business since 2019.
According to the Pittsburgh Business Times, the brick-and-mortar spot in Regent Square will pivot Confections toward daily counter service. The Confections website still lists its current pickup-only setup at 1019 Wood Street in Wilkinsburg, underscoring how big a shift this is from a primarily order-driven model.
Regent Square Fits a Cafe
Renee is not exactly venturing into uncharted territory. Regent Square’s business district already leans heavily on independent cafes, markets, and small neighborhood shops, making it a natural home base for a pastry-focused cafe that feeds off local foot traffic.
