A 20-year-old Westport man is facing a long list of charges after police say a 15-year-old girl was shot in the hand inside an Eddy Drive home on Saturday morning.

Westport police said officers were called to the house at about 7:57 a.m., where they found the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound to her hand. She was taken to a Rhode Island hospital, and officers described her injuries as non-life-threatening.

Inside the first-floor kitchen, police said they found a shotgun and made it safe. According to reporting by Boston 25 News, officers identified 20-year-old Vijay Hak at the scene. He complied with commands and was detained without incident, then arrested following an on-scene investigation.

Search Warrants Turn Up Drugs And 'Ghost Gun'

Detectives later executed search warrants at the Eddy Drive residence. They reported seizing a substantial quantity of psilocybin mushrooms and alprazolam (Xanax), along with other narcotics and contraband.

During a follow-up search, investigators also located what they described as a Polymer 80 style "ghost gun," a firearm that typically lacks a serial number. The additional discovery led to further narcotics-related warrants, according to Newport Dispatch.

Charges Filed And Ongoing Investigation

Hak now faces a slate of firearm charges that include assault and battery by discharging a firearm, possession of a large-capacity firearm and feeding device, two counts of improper firearm storage, possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, possession of a shotgun without a license, and receiving stolen property connected to the shotgun.

Authorities have also charged him with multiple counts of drug possession with intent to distribute, covering psilocybin and several other controlled substances. The breakdown of counts was detailed by Boston 25 News. Police say the case remains under active investigation.

According to Newport Dispatch, officials have not yet released information about Hak's arraignment or bail, and no additional suspects have been identified. Westport police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the department.
