
A quiet Friday evening outside a Glendale emergency room turned chaotic when someone in a passing black SUV opened fire, leaving one person wounded just steps from the entrance to Dignity Health's Arizona General emergency center.
Witnesses told police they heard roughly half a dozen shots, somewhere in the range of six to seven rounds. The victim was taken to a nearby emergency room before officers arrived, and Glendale police say there are no other known victims tied to the incident.
According to 12 News, investigators say the suspect was inside a black SUV that sped off from the scene and remains at large. Police told the outlet they are now combing through surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses in hopes of tracking down whoever pulled the trigger.
Where It Happened
The shooting unfolded near Dignity Health's Arizona General emergency room at Camelback Road and 83rd Avenue, very close to the ER entrance. According to Dignity Health, the Camelback facility operates as a walk-in emergency center serving the surrounding neighborhood.
Police Response
Glendale officers told 12 News they have been canvassing the area, going door to door to speak with potential witnesses and checking nearby surveillance systems for any glimpse of the suspect SUV. As of now, police have not announced any arrests and have not released a public description of the suspect.
