
A routine wait at a St. Paul bus stop turned violent Friday night when a man was hit by a stray bullet and found with a gunshot wound to the chest near White Bear Avenue and Old Hudson Road. Officers responded to reports of gunfire coming from the Interstate 94 corridor shortly before 9 p.m., and police say the vehicles involved had already left the scene by the time they arrived.
According to KARE 11, preliminary information from St. Paul police indicates that two vehicles exchanged gunfire near the intersection before taking off. The man, who officers say was struck by what they are calling a stray round, was found at the bus shelter, and investigators had not made any arrests as of late Friday.

Multiple local routes serve the bus stop at White Bear Avenue and Old Hudson Road and sits near ramps for I‑94, making it a busy transit point for the east-side neighborhood. Metro Transit route maps show the intersection as a regular stop on local lines serving the area.

St. Paul police said detectives are investigating the shooting and are reviewing available evidence. In a statement to KARE 11, officers said the victim was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and reiterated that no arrests have been made as detectives work to identify the vehicles involved.
