What was supposed to be a quiet stop for soup and sandwiches in Dorchester turned into a full‑blown scene Monday, as five teenagers were arrested after what police describe as a chaotic disturbance inside a Panera Bread. According to the Boston Police Department on Facebook, officers from District C‑6 responded to a removal call at the Panera at 8 Allstate Road after more than 15 radio calls about a group of juveniles in and around the restaurant. When officers moved in, police say the group flipped tables, refused to leave, and fought with officers trying to clear the scene.
Five juveniles were ultimately taken into custody. The post identifies them as a 14‑year‑old male from Dorchester and four females: a 15‑year‑old from Roxbury, a 15‑year‑old from Dorchester, a 15‑year‑old from Malden, and a 17‑year‑old from Roslindale. Several are facing trespassing charges, while three also face counts of assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. Police say one female suspect allegedly shoved an officer and resisted by thrashing and locking her arms. Two of the teens were taken into custody without further incident, and all are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
Recurring juvenile trouble near South Bay Plaza
The Panera sits in the busy Allstate Road and South Bay shopping area, which has become a recurring hotspot for large groups of teens that sometimes spill over into fights and arrests. The Boston Globe reported on large brawls and multiple juvenile arrests at South Bay in 2023, highlighting the plaza as a problem area for police and businesses alike.
The Boston Police Department has also documented similar disturbances at South Bay, including a 2025 incident in which six juveniles were arrested after a plaza disturbance. Boston Police describe officers repeatedly advising crowds to disperse, then making on‑scene arrests when things did not calm down.
What comes next
The Boston Police Department Facebook post says the youths arrested at Panera are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
Under Massachusetts law, delinquency and youthful offender cases can be diverted, placed on probation, or fully adjudicated in juvenile court, depending on a young person’s age, prior record, and the nature of the allegations, according to Mass.gov. The Roxbury Division of the Boston Municipal Court serves as the local arraignment venue for cases filed in that neighborhood, and the Roxbury Division, Boston Municipal Court listings include courthouse details and contact information for anyone tracking the next steps in the case.
