
A 2-year-old child was fatally shot Saturday on Peters Road in Butler in Taylor County, authorities said. The child's mother put the child in her car and started driving toward Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, but emergency responders met her on the way and took over. Despite those efforts, the child later died.
The Taylor County Sheriff's Office said on social media that deputies were sent out after a call about a person being shot on Peters Road, according to 13WMAZ. The post stated that the mother had placed the child in her car and was headed to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center when EMS met her and took over care during transport. At that point, there were no arrests or charges announced. Investigators also asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to help with the case, the post said.
