Atlanta police are searching for a man who turned a routine dinner run into a frightening scene at the Chick-fil-A on 875 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, threatening workers and snatching cash from the drive-thru window before speeding off.
Officers were called to the Vine City location on Tuesday night after employees reported a heated confrontation at the drive-thru and money missing from the register. Surveillance video released with the police appeal shows a man leaning into a vehicle at the window, then driving away in a silver SUV.
According to WSB‑TV, the person at the window allegedly grabbed more than $200 and shouted, “You are going to serve me or get ready to die about some chicken.” In the surveillance clip, workers can be seen scrambling away from the service window as the suspect reaches into the vehicle.
Police Ask For Tips
Atlanta police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or the silver SUV to contact Crime Stoppers at 404‑577‑TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online, according to the Atlanta Police Department Crime Stoppers page. Tips can be submitted anonymously and may be eligible for a reward.
Surveillance Footage Could Help
The surveillance clip released to the public gives investigators a closer look at the suspect’s movements and the getaway vehicle. Police say any additional dashcam or cellphone video from the area around the time of the incident could be a big help, and the WSB‑TV coverage includes still images from that footage.
Anyone who was at the restaurant that night is urged to hang onto any video they may have and call Crime Stoppers or Atlanta police instead of trying to track anyone down themselves. Authorities emphasize that safety comes first: if it is safe to do so, note what you see, then let investigators handle the rest.
