A late-night house fire in Miami Township's Vista Woods neighborhood left one person dead and another seriously injured, officials said, turning an otherwise quiet Saturday night into a chaotic scene as smoke filled the area.
Miami Township Fire & EMS were dispatched at 9:27 p.m. to the 300 block of Elm Crest Drive after 911 callers reported a structure fire with people trapped inside. Crews pulled one person from the home, then later located and extricated a second occupant who was pronounced dead at the scene. The surviving victim was treated on site and airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to a release via WCPO.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office, the Clermont County Fire Investigation Team and Miami Township Police are listed as participating agencies in the investigation, officials said.
