A late-night shooting on South Ivey Lane near Gore Avenue in Orlando left a woman in her 20s dead on Tuesday, and deputies say the search for whoever pulled the trigger is just getting started.
Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office were called to the area around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and found a woman who had been shot. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died. The sheriff’s office said the shooting remains under active investigation and has not said if any arrests or identifications have been made, according to WFTV. Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or announced an arrest.
Neighborhood safety and recent incidents
The intersection and nearby blocks around Ivey Lane and Gore Avenue have seen other shootings in recent years, a pattern residents say raises serious safety concerns. Local outlets have documented some of those cases: ClickOrlando reported a fatal teen shooting off Ivey Lane in February, and Hoodline previously covered a MetroWest condo shooting earlier this month.
