
A 911 call reporting an assault with a firearm turned deadly Monday morning in Clark County, where deputies discovered a person dead near the intersection of Northeast Ward Road and Northeast Davis Road.
The Clark County Sheriff's Office said a suspect is now in custody and investigators see no sign of any ongoing risk to the wider community. Detectives with the agency's Major Crimes Unit were called in, and the scene quickly shifted from active response to painstaking investigation as evidence was processed and potential witnesses were interviewed.
According to KATU, deputies were dispatched at about 11:13 a.m. on April 27 after the 911 report of an assault with a firearm near Ward and Davis roads. When they arrived, they found one person dead and released only limited information while detectives began their work.
Major Crimes Unit Takes Over
Per the Clark County Sheriff's Office, the Major Crimes Unit handles the county's most serious cases, including shootings and other violent crimes. These detectives typically oversee forensic processing, coordinate witness interviews and collect and organize evidence as cases move toward potential charging decisions.

The sheriff's office has confirmed that one suspect is in custody and that investigators do not believe there is any continuing threat to the public, KATU reports.
