A 61-year-old Bradenton man was killed Saturday afternoon after losing control of his Honda motorcycle on U.S. Highway 41 just north of Saffold Park Drive, according to troopers. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Florida Highway Patrol told Tampa Bay 28 the crash happened around 4:50 p.m. when the motorcycle veered off the roadway, entered the median and slammed into a guardrail. Troopers identified the motorcycle as a Honda and said the case is still under investigation.
Another Deadly Crash On U.S. 41 This Week
This fatal wreck comes just days after a separate deadly collision on U.S. 41 in neighboring Pasco County that killed both a motorcyclist and a bicyclist, according to the Tampa Bay Times. The back-to-back tragedies are a stark reminder of how quickly crashes on this busy Gulf Coast corridor can turn fatal.
Investigation Ongoing
Troopers told Tampa Bay 28 that investigators are still working to determine what caused the rider to lose control. No additional details, including the man's name, have been released.
