Afternoon shoppers on Madison Avenue got an unwelcome jolt Wednesday when a group of thieves stormed a Perth Amboy jewelry shop, scooped up merchandise and bolted in a waiting car. Police say the crew struck in the middle of the day, then sped out of town with officers in pursuit. No weapons were shown and no customers or employees were hurt, but the suspects managed to get away.
Police: Midday Robbery on Madison Avenue
According to Perth Amboy police, the robbery happened around 3 p.m. Wednesday at a Madison Avenue jewelry store. Several people went inside, grabbed jewelry and took off in a vehicle, kicking off a pursuit that continued beyond city limits. Officers were unable to stop the car and reported no arrests.
