A man in his 40s was cut during an apparent robbery attempt Monday in the 3100 block of Broadway, according to San Antonio police. Investigators say two men armed with knives chased the victim from a cigar shop parking lot across the street into a Whataburger parking lot, where a fight broke out and the suspects grabbed his bags. Emergency medical crews treated the man at the scene for cuts to his hand and face, and authorities detained two people while the case remains under investigation.
According to KENS5, the San Antonio Police Department said officers were called for a reported cutting on April 20 near East Mulberry Street. Police told the station the two suspects chased the victim from the Finck's Cigar Company parking lot across Broadway into the Whataburger lot, where they fought with the man and took his bags. The SAPD confirmed that emergency medical services treated the victim and that detectives continue to investigate the incident.
Where It Happened
Finck's Cigar Company lists a Midtown storefront at 3111 Broadway, directly across from fast-food and retail parking lots where the confrontation reportedly took place. Finck's shows the Broadway location on its site. The 3100 block of Broadway is part of the Midtown corridor that sees heavy foot and vehicle traffic through the day and evening, turning a routine commercial strip into the backdrop for this violent run-in.
Pattern Of Robberies And Next Steps
The attack echoes a string of robberies and violent holdups at small tobacco and vape retailers that robberies at small tobacco and vape retailers flagged in March. KENS5 reported that detectives are reviewing witness accounts and any available video as they follow leads in Monday’s case. No formal charges had been released as of publication, and officials said they will provide updates as the probe develops.
