A Monday morning ride in Citrus Heights turned fatal when a motorcyclist was killed in a collision on Van Maren Lane near Auburn Boulevard, police said. Officers arrived around 11:30 a.m., found the rider unresponsive and performed life-saving measures, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The wreck involved a motorcycle and another vehicle, and police said the driver of that vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to The Sacramento Bee. Southbound lanes of Van Maren between Auburn Boulevard and Greenback Lane were closed while traffic detectives examined the crash site.

Police said preliminary findings indicate alcohol was not a factor in the collision, and the Sacramento County Coroner's Office was withholding the motorcyclist's identity until relatives could be notified, The Sacramento Bee reports.
