Strange-bird, the roving pop-up known for wood-fired pizzas and ever-changing small plates, looks ready to settle down on Southeast Clinton Street after new liquor-license paperwork surfaced this week. The filing, submitted under Folksy Foods LLC, pegs 2114 SE Clinton St as the potential home base, with seating for about 15 inside, a small outdoor patio, and daily hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
License paperwork points to Clinton Street
According to What Now, city liquor-license records show Folksy Foods LLC has applied for a full on-premises liquor license at 2114 SE Clinton St, listing capacity for 15 indoor seats and four on the patio. The application describes the spot as a restaurant operating every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Folksy Foods LLC lists Strange-bird as its DBA in an SEC Form C filing that names Chef Tyler Robb as the company founder and CEO, per the SEC filing.
From pop-up to pizza shop
Strange-bird has built its following through pop-up dinners and pizza nights, and its website currently notes, “We will be doing pop ups only until our brick and mortar space is ready.” Online, the concept is framed as seasonal wood-fired food with hand-tossed pizzas at the core.
The Clinton Street address has some late-night slice history of its own. The storefront at 2114 SE Clinton previously housed slice shops including Hammy's Pizza, according to Portland Monthly.
What happens next
Liquor-license applications in Portland are posted for public comment and become part of the city's permanent record. The City of Portland's liquor-licensing page at Portland.gov explains that comments must include the application address and are accepted within a 30-day window.
What Now reports that the outlet reached out to Robb for comment about the Clinton Street plans, but he was not immediately available. While the application is active, nearby residents and future customers can review the proposed layout and operating plan and submit feedback through the city process.
If Strange-bird's application clears city review, the compact Clinton storefront could finally give Robb's pop-up program a steady home for pizzas and seasonal plates.
