A man was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon near the Delmar Loop, turning a busy St. Louis intersection into an active homicide scene in the middle of the day.
The shooting happened shortly after 3 p.m. at Hodiamont Avenue and Delmar Boulevard. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities have not yet released his name.
According to First Alert 4, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department called in homicide detectives, who confirmed one fatality and began processing the scene. As of Wednesday evening, investigators had not released any information about a suspect.

The intersection of Hodiamont and Delmar sits on the eastern edge of the Delmar Loop, a popular entertainment and transit strip lined with restaurants, bars and shops that draw both locals and nearby students. The Delmar Loop MetroLink station serves that stretch of Delmar Boulevard and connects riders to the Red Line, per Metro Transit.

Police have not released further information about what led up to the gunfire as homicide investigators continue their work.
