St. Bernard Parish deputies are in an active manhunt for 22-year-old Lee Collins III after two women were shot on Easter night in the 2200 block of Centanni Drive and later died at a nearby hospital. Deputies had been called to a disturbance Sunday evening and found both victims suffering from gunshot wounds before rushing them for treatment, where they were pronounced dead. An arrest warrant has been issued charging Collins with two counts of second-degree murder.
According to WDSU, Sheriff James Pohlmann identified Collins as a family member of the two women. The outlet reports that investigators believe he took off from the scene in a stolen white 2019 Ford stake-bed truck with Louisiana license plate Z258037. Deputies were called to the area around 7:45 p.m. Sunday, and a warrant for two counts of second-degree murder has since been obtained. Anyone with a lead on Collins’ location is urged to contact the sheriff’s office, the Criminal Investigations tip line, or Crimestoppers.
How to Help Investigators
Investigators are asking residents to check their surroundings and share anything that could help, including sightings of the vehicle or home-security video from the area, according to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office. Tips can be directed to the sheriff’s office at (504) 271-2501 or the Criminal Investigations tip line at (504) 271-8477. Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans says information can also be submitted anonymously through Crimestoppers GNO or by calling (504) 822-1111, and callers whose tips lead to an arrest could qualify for a cash reward. The sheriff’s office is also asking the public to avoid spreading unverified details while detectives sort through leads.
Investigation Ongoing
Sheriff Pohlmann said detectives are actively pursuing leads in the case and, as of the latest update, no arrests had been made, according to WDSU. The sheriff’s office has not yet released the victims’ names and continues to urge anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward and assist with the investigation.
