Two people were wounded in separate shootings across New Orleans on Thursday, turning an otherwise routine weekday into a tense one for residents in two different neighborhoods, according to police.
The first call came from Central City, where a woman was hit by gunfire. Emergency medical crews treated her at the scene, then took her to a hospital for further care. A few hours later, officers were sent to a second shooting near Bayou St. John, where a man was struck and treated on site by medics.
Details from police were thin, but local reporting places the Central City shooting near South Robertson and Clio streets, and the Bayou St. John incident close to Toulouse and North White streets. As reported by WWL‑TV, EMS treated the woman at the first scene before transporting her to the hospital and treated the man at the second scene while officers worked the area.
Police Response And Tips
Officers remained on scene at both locations as they collected evidence and tried to piece together what happened. As of the latest updates, investigators had not publicly released any suspect descriptions or possible motives.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, detectives routinely urge anyone with information, including home or business surveillance video, to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
Neighborhood Context
The Central City shooting fits a troubling pattern for the neighborhood, which has weathered several shootings in recent months and, residents say, a growing sense of unease. In one recent incident, Hoodline reported that Two Minors Wounded In Central City, underscoring lingering safety concerns for families living nearby.
