Gunfire reports sent Memphis officers racing to the Frayser neighborhood Tuesday, with dispatch audio pinning the call to the 1100 block of Frayser Boulevard. Police units were spotted canvassing the area, and officials say the incident remains under investigation. As of those first reports, officers had not confirmed any injuries or announced arrests.
According to WREG, a police dispatcher said the shooting was reported in the 1100 block of Frayser Boulevard and that Memphis Police Department officers were on scene investigating. WREG reported that its newsroom reached out to MPD and was waiting for additional details from the department.
The neighborhood has not exactly had a quiet year. Frayser has been the backdrop for a run of violent incidents, including a March 3 drive-thru attack that shattered a Taco Bell window and narrowly missed an employee, as covered by Action News 5. Those cases have kept both residents and officers zeroed in on Frayser Boulevard and the surrounding blocks.
Police response
Memphis Police told WREG that detectives were going door to door, canvassing the area, and checking any surveillance cameras they could find. Investigators have not named suspects or announced arrests at this stage and are asking anyone with video from the area to share it with officers.
Why Frayser is on watch
Community leaders and local outlets have been flagging repeated gunfire calls around Frayser this spring, and police have at times released video to help the public identify suspects. As Action News 5 has reported, recent incidents in the neighborhood range from stray bullets to targeted shootings, which makes eyewitness accounts, security systems, and doorbell cameras especially important for detectives trying to piece together what happened.
How to help
Anyone with information or footage tied to the latest Frayser gunfire is urged to contact Memphis Police or CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH, according to the Memphis Police Department. Residents with doorbell or dash-cam video are encouraged to preserve it and share it directly with investigators instead of posting potential suspect clips on social media.
Details remain limited while investigators sort through evidence and interview neighbors. WREG and other local outlets are expected to update their coverage as Memphis Police release more information, and Hoodline will keep an eye on official updates for any new developments or arrests.
