Two men led Memphis police on a chase after an alleged assault outside a Hickory Hill lounge Monday night, capping things off with a short foot pursuit before officers caught up with them. The incident started at Legends Lounge on the 6200 block of Knight Arnold Road and ended nearby. No injuries were reported at the scene. Officers said a search of the car turned up suspected drugs, drug paraphernalia, and cash, and both suspects are due in Shelby County court on Tuesday morning.
Assault reported outside Legends Lounge
A security guard told officers that three people climbed out of a vehicle and showed him guns, and that one of the men then drove a car that "brushed" the guard during the confrontation, according to WREG. The guard also told police that one of the men shouted "F*** you, rental cop" as officers arrived. A witness described the scene as chaotic as deputies and patrol units closed in. Police began pursuing the vehicle after the confrontation, the station reported.
Chase ended in a foot pursuit and arrests
Officers said they followed the vehicle until the occupants bailed out and ran. Both men were caught after a short foot chase and taken into custody. What officers recovered and charges
Police said they found a scale, sandwich bags, a multicolored backpack, and a green leafy substance that later tested positive for marijuana. They also reported recovering $1,892.55 stashed under the passenger seat, according to WREG. Authorities identified the suspects as 33-year-old Terrance Hamer and 31-year-old Randy Jordan. Hamer faces aggravated assault, evading arrest, and multiple drug counts, while Jordan faces evading arrest and related paraphernalia and possession charges. Both were taken into custody after the chase and are scheduled to appear in Shelby County court on Tuesday morning, police said.
