A late night at Capone's in Spring Hill has ended with prison time for Hudson resident George Labar, whose guilty pleas this week closed the loop on a shooting that shattered a bar window but, by sheer luck, did not injure anyone inside. Labar admitted to firing from his vehicle toward the occupied building and now has state prison sentences in both Hernando and Pasco counties tied to the case. Deputies say it all started with a physical altercation inside the bar and escalated outside when, on Feb. 28, 2025, Labar opened fire while driving away.
How deputies say the shooting unfolded
Deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office were called to Capone's shortly before midnight on Feb. 28, 2025, after reports of a disturbance. Investigators later identified Labar as the shooter, according to a March press release from the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. Two rounds hit an exterior window and caused it to shatter, but no one inside the bar was struck.
The sheriff's office says staff had already escorted Labar out of the bar after an altercation when the dispute carried on into the parking lot. As Labar drove away, deputies say he fired several shots from his vehicle, prompting the late night investigation that would eventually stretch across county lines.
Chase ends in Pasco County crash and arrest
The search for the shooter did not last long. With help from the Pasco Sheriff's Office, deputies located Labar's white Dodge Ram on March 2, 2025. When they tried to stop him, he fled and crashed into both a fence and a patrol vehicle before being taken into custody, according to Fox 13 Tampa Bay.
Local coverage reported that Labar was transported to a hospital with minor injuries from the crash. Afterward, he was booked in Pasco County on multiple charges and held without bond while authorities processed the related warrant from Hernando County.
Guilty plea and sentences
According to a sentencing update posted on the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Labar pleaded guilty on Wednesday to shooting into an occupied building and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. The post states that a judge sentenced him to 18 months in the Florida Department of Corrections, with 39 days of credit for time he had already served in custody.
The same update notes that Labar also received a separate three year DOC sentence tied to the Pasco County charges. The Facebook post is the latest public record on a case that began more than a year ago with a barroom argument and ended with state prison time on both sides of the county line.

Coverage by the Hernando Sun reports that the initial Hernando County arrest warrant charged Labar with "Shoot/Throw Deadly Missile (at a Public Dwelling)" and "Discharging a Firearm in Public (from a Vehicle)," both listed as second degree felonies.
