Arkansas State Police say a quiet Tuesday on Interstate 55 turned serious when troopers spotted a pickup tied to a Jonesboro homicide case and moved in for a high-stakes traffic stop near Turrell in Crittenden County. The driver was arrested without a struggle and is now facing a first-degree murder charge.
Troopers Say They Spotted the Pickup Leaving a Gas Station
According to state police, a trooper saw a silver Ram pickup at a gas station near mile marker 48 on I-55 and tailed the truck as it pulled back onto the interstate and headed south. Troopers then executed a felony stop near mile marker 21, boxed the vehicle in, and took the driver into custody without incident, according to WREG.
Booked in Craighead County
After the interstate stop, authorities transported the suspect to the Craighead County Detention Center in Jonesboro, where he was booked into the county jail. The Craighead County Sheriff's Office maintains the public roster for local jail bookings.
Who Was Arrested and What He Is Charged With
State police identified the suspect as 33-year-old Demetrie Jevon Allen of Blytheville. He is being held without bond on a first-degree murder charge, per WREG.
