A traffic stop in Fort Lauderdale this week ended with the arrest of Jammiah Catera Broomfield, the mother of rapper Kodak Black’s son, after detectives say she tried to flee before being taken into custody.
Online jail records show 28-year-old Broomfield was booked Tuesday into the Paul Rein Detention Facility on multiple charges, including trafficking in methamphetamine, driving with a suspended or revoked license, resisting an officer without violence, and a probation violation. She had been out on bond awaiting trial on a prior grand theft charge and, according to arrest paperwork, remains behind bars because of a hold from Palm Beach County, as reported by Local10.
Where She’s Being Held
Broomfield is being held at the Paul Rein Detention Facility in Pompano Beach, a Broward Sheriff’s Office medium-to-maximum security jail that houses male and female inmates in separate units. The county facility, which opened in 2004, operates in-custody programs that include substance-abuse treatment and life-skills classes, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Co-parenting History
Broomfield is the mother of Kodak Black’s son, King Khalid, and has previously been involved in public custody and legal disputes connected to the rapper. Past coverage of those disputes and related incidents has appeared in music and local outlets, including XXL.
Legal Note
Trafficking in methamphetamine is treated as a serious felony under Florida law when alleged quantities meet statutory thresholds. The statute sets mandatory minimums and escalating penalties depending on the amount. Prosecutors must still formally file charges and a court must determine guilt, and the trafficking statute is summarized in Florida law governing controlled substances.
As of Tuesday, online jail records show Broomfield remains in custody and is being held on a Palm Beach County hold. Public records did not list a bond amount or an upcoming court date at the time of reporting, per Local10.
