A motorcyclist died Monday after a crash near Lake Pleasant Parkway and Loop 303 in Peoria, according to police. Investigators say the rider hit a raised median, was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
Peoria police told 12News that the impact with the raised median caused the rider to lose control and become separated from the bike. The rider's identity has not been released while the investigation continues.
Where It Happened
The crash took place along a busy stretch of Lake Pleasant Parkway that feeds traffic onto Loop 303. A project fact sheet from ADOT outlines planned improvements for Loop 303 and nearby connections, including added lanes, new bridges, lighting and drainage upgrades intended to handle growing traffic. ADOT notes that construction on that segment is expected to begin in early 2026 and will bring overnight and weekend restrictions as work moves forward.
Local Safety Context
The corridor has seen other serious collisions as development and traffic have increased. As reported in coverage of Peoria's Lake Pleasant Parkway widening project, the city is adding raised medians, bike lanes and lighting that officials say are aimed at improving safety for drivers and riders.
Peoria police say the investigation into Monday's fatal crash is ongoing and have not released additional details. We will update this post when the department provides more information.
