
A late-night shooting on Magnolia Street NW in northwest Atlanta left an 18-year-old man wounded Saturday, adding to an already violent weekend for the city. Officers found the teen conscious and breathing before he was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, and the scene was quickly locked down as police opened an investigation.
Police Respond to Magnolia Street Block
Officers were called to the 495 block of Magnolia Street NW shortly before 11 p.m., where they located an 18-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound. Authorities said he was alert, conscious and breathing when they arrived. He was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment, according to 11Alive.
Investigators Work Scene Amid Violent Weekend
Detectives have been canvassing the area for witnesses and evidence as Atlanta officers juggled multiple violent incidents across the city over the weekend. On the same night, a separate shooting at Piedmont Park left a 16-year-old girl dead and another teen injured, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Vine City Backdrop and Call for Tips
Magnolia Street runs through parts of Vine City and nearby neighborhoods that have dealt with periodic gun violence in recent years. Both the Atlanta Police Department’s news releases and local reporting have documented previous shootings near the intersection of Vine and Magnolia.
