A two-vehicle crash at a Pompano Beach intersection has left an 81-year-old woman dead, and Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are now working to piece together how it happened. The collision occurred around 12:55 p.m. on March 30 at the intersection of West Copans Road and Northwest Third Avenue, closing lanes while first responders worked the scene. Officials identified the victim as Antoinette Biamonte of Coral Springs, who later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

As reported by the Miami Herald, the crash involved a 2011 Lincoln MKS traveling eastbound and driven by 56-year-old Teresa Masone of Pompano Beach, and a 2022 Jeep Wrangler traveling westbound and driven by 35-year-old Michelle Tampellini of Deerfield Beach. Investigators say the Jeep turned left into the Lincoln's path and struck the Lincoln's front driver's side. Paramedics transported Masone and Biamonte to Broward Health North, while Tampellini remained on scene, according to the report.

Investigation Underway

Broward Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are leading the probe and say the investigation remains active as they gather evidence and take statements. According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, detectives routinely canvass crash scenes for surveillance and cellphone video. The injured were taken to Broward Health North for treatment.

How the crash unfolded

According to the Miami Herald, the Jeep turned left into the path of the Lincoln, striking the Lincoln’s front driver's side, a type of impact that often causes severe injuries to front-seat occupants. The collision prompted a heavy emergency response and temporarily closed the intersection while detectives processed the scene and collected evidence.

Local context

Pompano Beach has seen several serious crashes along Copans and nearby corridors this year. A multivehicle collision on I-95 south of Copans in February killed two people, reporting by CBS Miami found, and the June 2025 rollover on West Copans that killed a teen was previously covered by Hoodline. That string of incidents has kept scrutiny on traffic and intersection safety along the busy east-west route.

The Broward Sheriff's Office says the investigation is ongoing, and detectives ask anyone with information or video to contact the Broward Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Unit. This report will be updated as new details are released.
