
A man was found shot multiple times Thursday night on the 3300 block of Wheeler Road SE in Southeast Washington, D.C., and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Officers responding to reports of gunfire quickly secured the block and turned it over to detectives, who opened a homicide investigation.
According to DC News Now, the Metropolitan Police Department said officers discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead where he was found. The department also told DC News Now there was no lookout as of Thursday night.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have taken over the case, and the department has not announced any arrests or released a suspect description. Per the Metropolitan Police Department’s District Crime Data at a Glance, the city had recorded 22 homicides year to date as of April 23, 2026, down from 45 at the same point last year.
