Miami-Dade deputies hauled in a co-owner of Snatched N Curved, an unlicensed post-op recovery home, after serving a search warrant tied to an ongoing investigation. Authorities say the house was quietly hosting post-surgery patients who were shelling out hundreds of dollars per night for care that operated completely outside state oversight. The bust is the latest in a series of moves against recovery homes across South Florida.
According to Local 10, deputies executed the search warrant on March 17 and found eight recovering patients and two employees inside the home. Investigators told the outlet that patients were paying up to $300 per night, largely through Zelle, and that they reviewed transfers showing roughly $200,000 in receipts tied to the operation. Deputies also say trash recovered from the property suggested the business was illegally dumping medical waste, and that the two women involved had previously been arrested in 2023 over similar alleged unlicensed setups.
Business Marketed Care Online
The recovery home’s website pitches nurse-practitioner-led care, rides to and from surgery and bundled post-op services, along with compression garments and other aftercare items for sale. Snatched N Curved's website lists booking options, phone numbers and an Instagram handle used to arrange stays.
Arrest, Charges And Bonds
Miami-Dade deputies arrested 38-year-old Crystal Wilneshia White on April 7. She is now facing six felony counts and several misdemeanors, including operating an assisted living facility without a license and felony littering, according to Local 10. A judge reportedly found no probable cause on an organized fraud allegation but still ordered White held on an $8,300 bond, and the outlet reports she faces a magistrate hold while co-owner Kerri Lisa Smith, also known as Kerri Pierre, remains at large.
A Pattern Authorities Have Tracked
Officials have been repeatedly cracking down on unlicensed post-op recovery homes after complaints about dirty conditions, untrained caregivers and improper biomedical waste disposal. Coverage of similar busts in Miami-Dade and other local reporting highlight an ongoing struggle for regulators trying to police these pop-up operations.
Investigators say the probe into Snatched N Curved is still active. White remains in custody on the pending charges while authorities continue to search for Smith, listed as a co-owner. The arrest is the latest in a series of enforcement actions targeting unlicensed recovery homes that operate outside state oversight and public health protections.
