Russian Hill residents tired of trekking across town for a proper bagel are about to get some relief. Bageletto, the Mission-born bagel shop that set up a production kitchen on 14th Street last year, is bringing its all-day bagel program to Polk Street, turning a former coffee chain outpost into a sit-down cafe built around Mission-made bagels.

The new location will move into 2193 Polk St., the former Peet’s between Broadway and Vallejo. As reported by The San Francisco Standard, the team is aiming for a late-spring debut and plans to run the Polk cafe as a full-service spot featuring a dining counter, sandwiches and house-cured meats, rather than another production-heavy operation.

Bagels for Polk Street will come straight from the Mission. According to The San Francisco Standard, the cafe will be stocked with bagels delivered from the 14th Street kitchen in small batches twice a day, with more runs if demand calls for it.

Bageletto first opened at 76 14th Street in the Mission in February 2025, pairing a compact cafe with a larger commercial kitchen that handles wholesale orders. As the San Francisco Chronicle reported, that Mission kitchen bakes multiple rounds of bagels each day and supplies sandwiches and other wholesale clients from the same space.

Cofounder Kiki Theodorides told The San Francisco Standard, "Cross our fingers, we should open in the next 60 to 90 days." Theodorides and partner Rich D'Aloia say their attention is locked on product quality, and they are not planning rapid expansion beyond the Polk addition for now.

What to expect at Polk Street

The Polk Street cafe will echo the Mission shop’s sandwich-forward vibe. Expect hefty bagel sandwiches, Italian-style offerings and rotating schmears, with meats produced in-house. When Bageletto debuted in the Mission, Eater SF noted that the shop leans into deli-style creations, including a chopped-cheese-style sandwich, rather than sticking to simple grab-and-go bagels.

Why it matters for neighbors

Russian Hill does not have many dedicated bagel counters, so a full-service cafe funneling in near-fresh product from the Mission could significantly shake up local breakfast and lunch routines. The San Francisco Chronicle highlighted that Bageletto's bagels are larger than many competitors and that the team bakes several batches per day to prioritize freshness, an approach the owners say they will bring to Polk Street.

Bageletto's website currently lists only the Mission location at 76 14th Street and its phone number. The Polk address appears in local coverage and on public maps, but the company has not yet posted official hours for the new cafe. The listing will be updated once the shop publishes operating hours and an opening date on its site.
