The off-price chain is stepping in as a major anchor for the Elmwood shopping district, bringing its trademark treasure-hunt mix of apparel, shoes, beauty products and home goods, and giving New Orleans-area shoppers another national discount stop within a quick drive.
According to a Nordstrom press release, the Elmwood Rack will occupy about 27,000 square feet and stock apparel, accessories, beauty products, home décor and shoes while offering services such as online order pickup and easy returns. Gemma Lionello, president of Nordstrom Rack, said the company looks forward to serving the Elmwood community, and the release notes Nordstrom currently operates three Rack locations in Louisiana.
Nordstrom Rack’s new-store listing gives the Elmwood address as 1002 S. Clearview Pkwy in Harahan and shows the store opening this Thursday, complete with RSVP links for preview shopping events. Nordstrom’s announcement says Elmwood Center, owned and managed by Lauricella Land Company, is Louisiana’s largest open-air shopping center and already hosts anchors like TJ Maxx, Marshalls & HomeGoods, Hobby Lobby, Barnes & Noble, Nike, Ulta and DSW. "We are incredibly excited to welcome Nordstrom Rack to Elmwood Center," William M. Place, Lauricella's director of development, said in the statement, with the landlord calling the lease a chance to "reinvigorate a foundational part" of the center.
