
A man was found shot dead inside a pickup truck early Saturday near 7th Street and Dunlap Avenue in north Phoenix, and police detained a person at the scene, according to Phoenix police. The circumstances that led to the crash and the shooting are still under investigation, and authorities have not released the victim's identity.
Crash Call Turns Into Homicide Investigation
Officers were called to the area around 4 a.m. for a report of a crash and found a man inside a truck with a gunshot wound, according to 12 News. Phoenix police said detectives processed the scene and interviewed witnesses as they worked to determine what happened and who was involved.
Case Adds To String Of North Phoenix Shootings
The killing is one of several overnight and early-morning shootings reported in north Phoenix in recent weeks, where officers have responded to multiple scenes and at times detained people for questioning, according to reporting by ABC15. Authorities have not said whether the person detained at this scene will be booked or whether additional suspects are being investigated.
Detectives Seek Public’s Help
Phoenix police said the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information to contact the department's homicide unit or submit anonymous tips to Silent Witness, according to the City of Phoenix. Detectives have not released further details about the victim or the person detained as they continue their work.
