OGDEN — A late-night reckless driving call in Ogden ended with a 40-year-old man in handcuffs and a 15-year-old girl telling police she had been trapped and sexually assaulted, according to investigators.

Officers stopped a vehicle near Harrison Boulevard shortly after midnight and found the man, identified by police as Israel Ixcoy, in the car with the teen. Police say the girl told them Ixcoy had lured her to his home, locked her in a room and raped her.

Ixcoy was booked into jail on suspicion of rape, aggravated kidnapping and unlawful kissing of a minor. The stop followed reports of a reckless driver near 3100 Harrison Blvd around midnight, according to police.

According to FOX 13 News, Ogden police said officers located the vehicle near 3100 Harrison Blvd and pulled it over shortly after midnight. In the car, they found Ixcoy and the underage girl, and the teen told investigators that Ixcoy had brought her to his home before locking her in a room and raping her, police told the station.

Police Account And Recent Cases In Ogden

Ogden police booked Ixcoy on suspicion of rape, aggravated kidnapping and unlawful kissing of a minor. Prosecutors will review the arrest packet and decide whether to file formal charges.

The case lands in a year that has already seen several high-profile investigations involving minors in northern Utah. KSL reported an Ogden case last November involving aggravated kidnapping and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, and the Standard-Examiner covered a June arrest tied to alleged sexual exploitation of multiple minors. Together, those cases show the range of investigations the department has taken on over the past year.

What Happens Next

Being booked on suspicion of a crime does not mean formal charges have been filed. The Weber County prosecutor will decide whether to bring charges and, if so, schedule an arraignment.

If charged, aggravated kidnapping and rape are felony offenses in Utah. As with any criminal case, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
