Gunfire at a West Midtown apartment complex along the BeltLine left one person dead on Tuesday, and Atlanta police say they are still working to piece together what happened.
Officers and homicide detectives responded to the Westley on the Beltline apartments at 370 Northside Drive NW in northwest Atlanta, authorities said. Police have not released the victim’s name or given any information about a possible motive.
Police response and investigation
According to 11Alive, homicide investigators were working the scene at the complex while a news crew from the station headed to the property. The report by Reeves Jackson noted that officers had sections of the grounds roped off as detectives searched for evidence and documented the scene. Officials did not immediately release details about any suspects or possible charges.

The shooting happened at Westley on the Beltline. The complex’s leasing site, Westley on the Beltline, lists the address as 370 Northside Dr NW. The property sits beside the Atlanta BeltLine and is marketed as West Midtown living with quick access to the trail and neighborhood amenities. It is located in the city’s northwest quadrant, near several commercial corridors and transit connections.
Complex's recent police history
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution maintains a database of troubled apartment properties, and its records show police reported roughly 220 crimes at the Westley address from 2017 through July 2023. City records indicate the complex was once singled out for chronic crime issues. The AJC’s compilation outlines a range of reports at the property, including aggravated assaults and motor vehicle thefts.
In October 2025, Atlanta News First reported on a separate case in which a teenager was charged after what police said were dozens of car break ins at the same complex.
