Officers blocked off the area while investigators worked the scene, and an on-site photographer reported seeing a body and multiple shell casings on the ground. For now, detectives are keeping a tight lid on details as they collect evidence and try to sort out what unfolded in the early-morning hours.
According to Arizona's Family, part of Fairmont Avenue in the neighborhood east of the 83rd Avenue intersection was taped off as investigators worked, and the photographer confirmed seeing a body and several shell casings near the scene. The outlet reports it has reached out to the Phoenix Police Department for additional information.

Maryvale is an urban village on Phoenix's west side, a largely residential stretch made up of long-standing neighborhoods and commercial strips. Per Wikipedia, the area runs roughly from 35th Avenue to 87th Avenue and from Interstate 10 north, and is one of the city's largest planning areas.
