After three long years and one stubborn kitchen fire, Pelican's Reef is finally flipping the lights back on along Beechmont Avenue in Anderson Township. The long-running seafood spot is set to reopen on Friday, May 1 at 4 p.m., bringing back the island-style menu and the upstairs Reef Top bar that regulars have been missing. With the building sitting largely dark since the May 2023 blaze, the comeback is a welcome sight for loyal diners.
When It Reopens
According to WKRC, Pelican's Reef announced on social media that doors will reopen Friday, May 1 at 4 p.m. The station reports that the post, shared on the restaurant's Facebook page, teases a full-on grand reopening to mark the return.
The Fire That Closed It
Fire crews were called to Pelican's Reef in the early morning hours of May 26, 2023, after flames broke out in the kitchen. Coverage from WLWT noted that the blaze was mostly contained to that area. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with a minor ankle injury, and Beechmont Avenue was shut down while crews worked to get the situation under control.
Owners Promise Familiar Menu
The restaurant's owners told WKRC they have "poured their hearts and souls" into bringing Pelican's Reef back. They promised the same food, drinks and laid-back vibe that longtime customers remember, and the station reports that fans can expect the classic seafood staples and the upstairs Reef Top bar to make their return.
