The Portland Fire keep stoking the roster. On Wednesday the WNBA expansion team signed guards Teja Oblak and Kamiah Smalls along with forward Peyton Williams, adding international savvy, college scoring punch and frontcourt size as the club gears up for its inaugural season. What they bring
Oblak arrives with a lengthy European résumé. She played for Galatasaray in the 2025–26 EuroLeague Women season and has represented Slovenia internationally, averaging 10.2 points, 4.4 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game.
Smalls, a James Madison product and the 2020 Colonial Athletic Association player of the year, averaged 19.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists across her college career. She has since logged pro stints in France, Italy and Turkey, giving Portland another guard who is used to carrying a heavy offensive load.
Williams started 114 games at Kansas State and wrapped her collegiate career with 1,546 points and 964 rebounds. She most recently averaged 12.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game for Wuhan Shengfan in 2024–25, according to KPTV, adding some proven interior production to the Fire frontcourt.
Opening night and tickets
The Fire are set to debut on May 9, 2026, at home against the Chicago Sky at Moda Center, the team notes in its announcement.
