Georgia Avenue Has Seen Recent Violence
The Georgia Avenue corridor has been the scene of multiple deadly incidents in recent months, and residents have pressed for both stronger patrols and more investment in violence-prevention programs. The Washington Post previously detailed a fatal shooting near Georgia and New Hampshire avenues in May 2025, a case that underscored ongoing safety concerns in the Petworth area.
Police Request Tips
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating and is asking anyone with information to call its anonymous tip line at (202) 727-9099 or to text details to 50411. The department's tip-line page lists those contacts along with other ways to reach investigators.
