Cincinnati is rolling out the red carpet at Great American Ball Park this weekend as four franchise favorites officially join Reds immortality. Brandon Phillips, Aaron Harang, Reggie Sanders and manager Lou Piniella headline a three-day Hall of Fame blowout that stretches from Friday through Sunday, mixing museum meet-and-greets, an on-field induction ceremony during Saturday night’s game and a downtown gala to close out the party. Fans can also look for a postgame fireworks show and a couple of timely giveaways built around the festivities.
Weekend schedule and promotions
According to the Cincinnati Reds, the Hall of Fame celebration is built around a three-game homestand against the Detroit Tigers, with the centerpiece pregame on-field induction slotted for 6:15 p.m. on Saturday ahead of a 7:15 p.m. first pitch. The club will light up the riverfront with a postgame fireworks show on Friday, and fans heading to Saturday’s matchup can snag a Reds Hall of Fame induction fleece blanket while supplies last. The weekend wraps Sunday evening with the Hall of Fame Induction Gala at the First Financial Center downtown.
Meet-and-greets and the inductees
The Class of 2026 featuring Phillips, Harang, Sanders and Piniella will anchor multiple museum sessions and ballpark cameos, giving fans a close-up look at the newest inductees while spotlighting some familiar faces from past eras. Reds Hall of Fame executive director Rick Walls framed the whole thing as a living history lesson for the franchise. "Telling a player they're going to be in bronze really makes a big difference," Walls said, as WCPO reported. The class came together through a selection process that combined fan balloting with votes from media members and team alumni.
Who’s appearing when
The Reds Hall of Fame & Museum will host staggered meet-and-greet sessions from Friday through Sunday, with a posted block schedule that sprinkles well-known alumni across all three days. Saturday’s slate features Aaron Harang, Brandon Phillips, Sean Casey and Tony Pérez in the late morning, followed by Lou Piniella, Reggie Sanders, César Gerónimo, Ken Griffey Sr. and José Rijo in the early afternoon. Additional sessions later in the weekend bring out Johnny Bench, Bronson Arroyo, George Foster and others. The meet-and-greets are photo-only with no autographs and are included with museum admission. One logistical note from the team’s event page: the Hall will close at 5 p.m. on Friday for a private event.
Xavier’s role and the college game
Xavier University is woven into the festivities, lending a campus flair to the Hall of Fame spotlight. The school is presenting Friday’s postgame fireworks and will host its own on-campus game activity as the Musketeers return to Hayden Field for a three-game series against St. John’s during the same Friday through Sunday stretch. Xavier entered the weekend 19-23 on the season, according to the university’s athletics office, and the campus was named the Reds’ Official University in a January partnership that created co-branded programming and expanded internship pathways between the two organizations. That local connection adds an extra community angle beyond the outfield walls.
Fan notes
Meet-and-greets at the museum operate on a first-come, first-served basis with paid admission, so early arrivals will have the best chance at snagging photos with the legends. Weekend promotions and giveaways typically impact gate lines and parking, so fans chasing tickets or special packages should keep an eye on ticketing outlets and the team’s special-events page for current availability. If the gala is out of reach, Saturday’s on-field ceremony and other highlights are expected to be covered by local media and social channels throughout the weekend, giving Reds fans a way to follow along even from the couch.
