Ring doorbell footage shows a rapid wave of ambulances and police converging on a Rye Brook home where officers found a woman unresponsive inside, authorities said. The woman, identified by police as 37-year-old Samantha Maldacker, was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and died several days later, according to officials. A man taken into custody at the scene has been charged in the case and is being held at the Westchester County Jail, while investigators wait for medical testing to be completed and keep the case open.
Door-cam video shows ambulances outside Westview house
The video obtained by News 12 captures at least two ambulances and multiple police vehicles lined up outside 14 1/2 Westview Ave at about 9:15 a.m., as responders wheel a gurney toward the house. The clip shows the urgent response in progress but does not show what happened before the dispute, the outlet reports.
Officers, EMS performed life-saving measures
Rye Brook officers say they were called to the Westview Avenue home on Monday morning and found the victim inside unconscious and not breathing, according to Patch. Port Chester–Rye–Rye Brook EMS joined officers at the scene and began CPR and other emergency care before Maldacker was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police allege suspect strangled the victim
Reporting that originally appeared in the Rockland/Westchester Journal News and was republished by AOL says a criminal complaint alleges 30-year-old Hugo Soto-Diaz forcefully strangled Maldacker during the dispute, causing her to lose consciousness. Soto-Diaz was later charged with second-degree attempted murder, arraigned in Rye Town Court and is being held at the Westchester County Jail, authorities told Talk of the Sound.
Cause of death pending as investigation continues
A county spokeswoman told News 12 Maldacker's name and said the medical examiner has not yet determined a cause of death while toxicology and other testing are completed. The Westchester District Attorney's office has said it will review the forensic findings before deciding whether to seek an upgraded charge.
