A quiet Tuesday night at the Riverside Parc apartments in South Fulton ended with a man fighting for his life after a shooting at the complex, police said. Officers rushed to the 1900 block of Waycrest Drive, where they found the wounded man and had him airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for emergency care. Detectives from South Fulton’s criminal investigations division and crime scene unit worked the area while concerned neighbors gathered outside their buildings. Police have not released the victim's name or said whether any arrests have been made.
According to 11Alive, officers were called to Riverside Parc and stayed on scene through the night trying to piece together how the shooting unfolded. Reporters Reeves Jackson and Cody Alcorn noted that investigators were asking anyone with information to speak up while crime scene teams collected evidence from around the complex.
About Riverside Parc
Riverside Parc is listed as a garden style apartment community, with leasing information placing it at 1925 Waycrest Drive SW. The complex's leasing site, Riverside Parc Apartments, provides contact details for the property and management. A PR Newswire release earlier this year reported that the property had been acquired by new owners who announced renovation plans, a change many residents have been watching closely. The shooting has rattled neighbors in a complex that sits near Fulton Industrial Boulevard and the busy airport corridor.
History Of Police Responses
This is not the first time Riverside Parc has drawn serious law enforcement attention. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation probed an officer involved shooting at the complex in 2017, a case that was later turned over to prosecutors for review. That earlier incident left a man hospitalized and has lingered in community conversations about policing and public safety in the area. Residents and community advocates have previously pushed for clearer communication from officials after high profile incidents at the property.
South Fulton police are asking anyone with information, video or tips to contact investigators. 11Alive's reporters at the scene said detectives were canvassing for witnesses and reviewing nearby surveillance footage as they worked to track down leads. The investigation remains active, and officials say they will release additional details as they are confirmed.
