A San Francisco rapper with an online following is now facing a murder charge in Contra Costa County, after a 2021 shooting outside a Richmond gas station left a 21-year-old man dead.
Prosecutors yesterday charged Reno Goldie Fiapoto with murder and a gang enhancement in connection with the killing. Fiapoto, who records under the name TearItOffGreezy, was arrested earlier this week, arraigned in Martinez, and is being held without bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 27.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed counts of murder and unlawful participation in a criminal street gang against the 26-year-old, following what authorities describe as a multiyear investigation.
Where the killing happened
The victim, 21-year-old Derrick McDougal, was found with gunshot wounds on the 2200 block of Barrett Avenue near 23rd Street in Richmond on March 16, 2021, according to contemporaneous local reporting. Officers were called to the scene after a ShotSpotter activation and located McDougal in a gas station parking lot, as reported by the Richmond Standard.
Multi-agency probe led to the arrest
Investigators say the recent arrest capped a multi-year probe that pulled in several local and federal law enforcement partners. A San Francisco Police Department news release on earlier coordinated warrants thanked partner agencies, including the FBI and Richmond police, underscoring the cross-jurisdiction teamwork that helped move the case forward. The San Francisco Police Department detailed the 2022 operation and the agencies involved.
Rapper profile and past run-ins with police
Fiapoto records as TearItOffGreezy and has built an online following, according to prior reporting. The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office previously identified him in a 2019 news release tied to a robbery investigation, and follow-up coverage by The San Francisco Standard traced alleged connections between Fiapoto and a Tre-4 network across the Bay Area. Earlier warrants and investigations involving him appear in San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office records.
What’s next in court
The case was referred to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, and Fiapoto was arraigned in Martinez, where he remains in custody without bail. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that a preliminary hearing is set for April 27 as prosecutors prepare their next steps in Contra Costa County court.
Authorities ask for tips
Even with an arrest on the books, authorities are still urging anyone with information about the 2021 shooting to speak up. The San Francisco Police Department maintains an anonymous tip line at 1-415-575-4444, and contemporaneous coverage listed Detective Aaron Mandell as a Richmond contact for leads. Police say public tips helped move the investigation along. Both the San Francisco Police Department and the Richmond Standard have detailed how investigators gathered and followed up on those early leads.
