Venice is getting a new hangout this fall as Salty Neighborhood Bar & Grill moves into the former Rib City space at Venice Village, 4187 S Tamiami Trail. Owner Edwin Morales is eyeing a September to October opening and is pitching the spot as a locals-first neighborhood bar with classic American comfort food and a sports-heavy setup. The opening adds another restaurant option to the Publix-anchored Venice Village shopping center.
Where It Will Be
According to Brixmor, the site plan lists "Salty Neighbor Bar & Grill" as a roughly 3,600-square-foot tenant in Venice Village, where neighbors already include Skillets, The Sand Trap and Panera Bread. The center sits on the northeast corner of Tamiami Trail and Jacaranda Boulevard and is marketed to retailers for its strong daily traffic, a selling point landlords use when courting casual-dining and bar operators along the corridor.
Menu And Setup
Morales told WhatNow the kitchen will focus on what he calls regular American food, including salads, appetizers and meats sold by the pound. Diners can also expect specialty burgers that mix brisket with ground beef along with Cuban-style sandwiches. The build-out will center on a 30-seat U-shaped bar with a strong emphasis on beer on tap, setting the place up to operate as both a neighborhood tavern and a sports-friendly hangout.
Why The Spot Makes Sense
Brixmor highlights Venice Village's steady foot traffic and its position inside the broader North Port to Bradenton to Sarasota retail corridor, two factors that make the center attractive to restaurant operators. With a mix of quick-serve and sit-down concepts already on site, a new bar and grill can chase business from lunch through the evening. For a concept built on burgers, beer and wall-to-wall sports on TV, the existing customer flow at Venice Village lines up neatly with the plan.
When To Expect It
Morales told WhatNow, "We're looking forward to getting open," and reiterated the September to October target while noting that Salty Neighborhood Bar & Grill aims to welcome both year-round locals and seasonal snowbirds. The space is set to feature 13 65-inch TVs and promote what Morales calls ice-cold beer, though the exact opening date will ultimately depend on construction progress and permitting. Locals can expect signage and a grand-opening announcement as the build-out moves ahead.
