A Suffolk County Sheriff's Department deputy is behind bars after being accused of raping and sexually trafficking a 15-year-old boy across several South Shore communities, officials said. The suspect, 41-year-old Richard Kielczweski of Hanson, was arrested late Friday and is being held on $250,000 bail, with arraignment set for Monday in Plymouth District Court.
The Hanson Police Department opened an investigation last week after receiving reports that the teen had been sexually assaulted multiple times and that child sexual abuse material had allegedly been created, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office. Investigators sought and obtained an arrest warrant, and Kielczweski was taken into custody late Friday with help from Middleborough police, WCVB reported.
Charges Across Hanson, Halifax And Middleborough
Prosecutors say Kielczweski is facing a lengthy list of charges across Middleborough, Hanson and Halifax. They include trafficking a person under 18 for sexual servitude, multiple counts of rape of a child aggravated by a 10-year age difference, and several counts of pay for sexual conduct with a child under 18. In Middleborough, the complaint also lists witness intimidation and enticing a child under 16, while the Hanson and Halifax complaints add more rape and trafficking counts, as outlined by the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office and reported by NBC Boston.
Suffolk County Sheriff's Department Response
The Suffolk County Sheriff's Department called the allegations "extremely serious and deeply disturbing" and said Kielczweski has been indefinitely suspended, according to a statement reported by WCVB. The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office noted that he was hired as a correction officer in 2015 and had been publicly recognized for his work with the Toys for Tots program. The sheriff's department even featured him in a March 2025 newsletter, published by the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department. Officials have not released additional details as the investigation continues.
Investigation And Court Schedule
Kielczweski is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail and is scheduled for arraignment Monday in Plymouth District Court, according to Boston 25. Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office have joined Hanson, Middleborough and Halifax police on the case, NBC Boston reports. Prosecutors say the investigation is still active and have not released further information about evidence or possible motive.
How To Report Tips And Get Help
Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office or the local police departments involved in the investigation. The DA's office also maintains victim services and a Children's Advocacy Center to support victims and families, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.
