Deputies urged neighbors to steer clear of the area while emergency personnel worked and detectives combed the scene for clues, trying to piece together what led up to the shooting.

The Medical Examiner Service, run through the county's Institute of Forensic Sciences, handles sudden or injury-related deaths, performs autopsies and coordinates with law enforcement and family services, operating on a 24-hour schedule. As noted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, that process is designed to determine both the cause and manner of death.
Precinct 4 deputies say they are conducting an active investigation to determine exactly what happened leading up to the shooting and the man's death, according to Mark Herman.
Neighborhood context
This is not the first time gunfire has rattled Spring residents this year. Local outlets reported a February case in which a teenager was shot during an attempted robbery.
