A quiet courtyard at the Hidden Meadow apartment complex in Spring Valley turned into a crime scene on Sept. 21, 2025, when someone opened fire, hitting two juveniles and sending them to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies say roughly four rounds were fired and that at least one bullet tore into a nearby apartment and struck a couch, coming uncomfortably close to anyone who might have been inside. Today, the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station released surveillance images and video in a renewed push to identify the person caught on camera.
Sheriff Shares Surveillance Footage
In a post appealing to the public, the Sheriff's Department shared a YouTube clip that shows security-camera footage of a man walking into the apartment courtyard and firing multiple shots. Investigators say the gun used in the shooting was a 9mm and that about four rounds were discharged during the incident. Detectives are circulating the clip in the hope that someone recognizes the person in the video.
Two Juveniles Wounded, Apartment Struck
According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, the gunfire struck two juveniles, who were taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies say another round punched into a neighboring unit and lodged in a couch, a reminder of how close the shooting came to turning fatal for people inside their homes. Surveillance stills released by the Rancho San Diego Station show a suspect described as a man in a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and white sneakers.
