A fatal collision in Brooksville on Saturday left a 60-year-old motorcyclist from Lady Lake dead after his bike slammed into a sedan that authorities say rolled through a stop sign.
The crash happened around 1:23 p.m. on April 11 at the intersection of Jasmine Drive and Mondon Hill Road. Both drivers were initially rushed to nearby hospitals with serious injuries, according to officials.
As reported by the Tampa Free Press, a 50-year-old Brooksville man was behind the wheel of a Toyota Camry heading north on Jasmine Drive when he entered the intersection without stopping at a posted stop sign. The Harley-Davidson rider, traveling west on Mondon Hill Road, then crashed into the side of the sedan.
The Florida Highway Patrol said both drivers were transported from the scene with serious injuries and that the motorcycle operator later died at the hospital. Troopers stated the investigation into the collision is ongoing. Names and additional details were not immediately released, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
