Baltimore woke up to a mild, mostly cloudy start on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, with temperatures in the low 50s and an afternoon high expected near 65. A few spotty rain showers could pop up late in the morning, but most of the day should stay dry with light southeast breezes. The real action waits in the wings for Wednesday, April 29, when showers and thunderstorms, some possibly strong, move in toward evening.
Today: Slight Shower Chance, Mild Highs
Today’s forecast calls for a high near 65°F and a slight chance of rain showers, mainly between about 11 a.m. and noon, along with southeast winds around 28 mph. With clouds hanging around, temperatures will be capped in the mid-60s, so afternoon outdoor plans should still be in good shape. If you’re biking or running during the midday hour, a compact rain jacket or lightweight layer should be all you need.
Wednesday: Showers, Thunderstorms, And Gusty Winds
Wednesday is shaping up to be the most weather day of the week, with showers spreading across the area and a strong chance of thunderstorms by late afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service says some storms could produce damaging wind gusts and pockets of heavy rain, with totals around a quarter to a half inch possible and gusts that may reach roughly 20 mph. Boaters and shoreline residents should also note that onshore flow could nudge high tides toward Action Stage at Annapolis and Dahlgren during the higher tide cycles through Wednesday.
Late Week: Cooler Nights And Frost Risk
Once the front pushes through, cooler air settles in, and Thursday turns breezy. Overnight lows are expected to dip into the 30s in parts of the region late this week into the weekend. Gardeners with cold-sensitive plants will want to plan on covering them or bringing them indoors on Friday and Saturday nights to dodge potential frost.
Plan Ahead
Small craft advisories are likely on the Chesapeake for Wednesday into Thursday as winds swing around to the northwest behind the front, so mariners should be ready for rougher conditions and higher gusts.
