A man wanted on serious domestic-assault warrants was taken into custody in Tahlequah on Tuesday after a coordinated search involving multiple law-enforcement agencies, authorities said.
Police identified the suspect as Zackery Wise, who was wanted on warrants for domestic assault and battery resulting in great bodily harm and for threatening an act of violence. Officers had previously warned the public that Wise should be considered potentially dangerous, and they followed through by arresting him in Tahlequah.
Before the arrest, Broken Arrow police had asked residents to help track Wise down, according to FOX23. That report noted that officers from Broken Arrow worked with Tahlequah police and Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse police to locate and arrest him.
Broken Arrow police directed the public to call the department's non-emergency line at 918-259-8400, according to the City of Broken Arrow. The Tahlequah Police Department listed its main contact line as 918-456-8801, per the City of Tahlequah.
Tribal and municipal agencies joined the search
The case highlights the kind of cross-jurisdiction teamwork that has become common across eastern Oklahoma, where city departments and tribal Lighthorse officers regularly join forces. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has identified the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse force as a frequent investigative partner in violent-crime cases, reflecting how agencies pool resources in the region, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
For tribal law-enforcement and court matters, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation provides a Lighthorse emergency number and additional contacts through its judicial system, per the Muscogee (Creek) Nation District Court.
Police description of the suspect
Authorities described Wise as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, roughly 140 pounds, with hazel eyes. They said he had recently been seen in the Broken Arrow, Coweta and Tahlequah areas and urged residents not to approach him but instead report any sightings or tips to law enforcement, details first reported by FOX23.
What happens next
Police said the arrest was made on existing warrants and did not immediately release information about Wise's arraignment date or any additional charges. Residents looking for updates on upcoming court appearances or filings can check the City of Tahlequah's posted arraignment calendars and contact details on its Arraignment Schedule page.
Anyone with information that could be relevant to this case is asked to contact Broken Arrow Police at 918-259-8400 or the Muscogee Nation Lighthorse emergency number at 918-732-7800.
